Security Engineer

• Provides essential security support for Applied Research Laboratories (ARL)
• Monitors and responds to security threats, alarms, and emergencies
• Safeguards classified and controlled unclassified information
• Immediately responds to alarms
• Performs effective access control
• Ensures only authorized persons and items enter (or depart) the premises
• Controls vehicle access to facility and uses a vehicle reservation system for staff use of lab vehicles
• Identifies employees, visitors, checks badges, and issues temporary badges
• Conducts random inspections
• Performs security checks and reports actual or potential safety and fire hazards
• Observes and reports conditions or situations which may lead to increased risks or other dangers
• Ensures strict compliance with established procedures related to emergency response or urgent actions
• Assists in other aspects of facility protection through other assigned duties required to support ARL operations
• Interacts with employees, visitors, and guests to provide courteous, professional assistance to personnel on site
• Completes various log entries and forms as official records and documentation
• Makes telephonic and email notifications relevant to ARL UT security status
• Answers incoming telephone calls
• Effectively operates computer systems, utilizes email, monitors closed circuit video monitoring equipment, operates fax machine, and utilizes ARL UT public address system
• Receives and documents after hour mail deliveries
• Completes mandatory and recurring training related to position necessary to maintain proficiency and improve capability

Security Guard
