Stores Clerk I
The College of Education at The University of Texas at AustinStores Clerk I responsible for inventory management and merchandise handling for University Housing and Dining. Ensuring compliance with standards and providing excellent customer service.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing merchandise for dining service and housing operations
- Receive, tag, rotate, and properly store delivered merchandise, ensuring compliance with health code standards and University Housing and Dining policies
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of products, following FIFO guidelines
- Distribute merchandise to internal locations operating pallet jacks when necessary
- Assist in inventory as assigned to complete purchasing requirements
- Maintain proper cleaning sanitation standards in the work area including freezers and coolers
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility
- Communicate professionally and effectively with staff, supervisory staff, and/or customers
- Maintain current knowledge of all areas of responsibility
- Provide excellent customer service
- Adhere to written and oral University and UHD policies such as time and attendance and UHD / UT trainings and compliance
- Complete and maintain required food safety training, including Texas Food Handler Safety
- Follow work safety guidelines and utilize proper PPE as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school graduation, GED, or vocational school
- Six months experience in receiving, storing, issuing, and accounting for property in stores or warehouse unit
- Six months of experience in stock handling and/or maintaining records
- Ability to complete and maintain Food Safety Training required by University Housing and Dining
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
- More than six months of experience in stock handling, maintaining records, receiving, storing, handling, and issuing food and food service supplies (preferred)
- Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to respond and follow through with written and oral policies, procedures, and work-related instructions (preferred)
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills (preferred)
