Medical Billing and Coding

• Uses ICD-10-CM and/or HCPCS/CPT codes to assign, validate, and/or work pre-bill coding edits for the following patient types:
• Medical Oncology (Med-ONC), Radiation Oncology (Rad-ONC), Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), Infusion & Injections, and multispecialty hospital-based outpatient clinics (Oncology, HepC, MS, Pulmonary, etc.)
• Works pre-bill edits daily to resolve issues related to coding assignments, charge errors, and missed modifiers
• Maintains or exceeds established productivity standard (minimum of 75 pre-bill edits cleared daily or a combination of daily charge capture and pre-bill edits)
• Ensures that all assigned charges are captured timely and consistently within the 3-day charge goal
• Performs coding audits for BCC coders upon request and as needed to reduce coding error trends
• Utilizes the complete medical record documentation in code assignment, validation, and/or editing of codes

Analyst

• Assists in the development, maintenance and support of Cerner and other clinical systems for the area of responsibility
• Provides input and guidance to build and design teams regarding build, optimization, training plans, goals, and implementation within their defined area
• Coordinates discussions with hospital department leaders, end users and IT Teams providing expertise on workflows of the clinical applications
• Establishes plans for supporting super-user groups
• Supports and leads evaluations of IT updates and revisions; establishes priorities and plans for release schedules
• Ensures that maintenance releases are properly tested and quality assured prior to production
• Supports and leads incident management processes and escalates issues as appropriate
• Provides mentoring and training to application analysts I in system analysis & design, specification development and documentation, and end-user training with ULH prescribed methodologies
• Completes assigned tasks per defined project scope, timelines, and budgets for implementations; works to prescribed methodologies for all project implementations

• Identify compliance concerns, trends, and educational opportunities
• Work independently with limited oversight
• Accurately abstract information from service documentation
• Assign appropriate CPT, ICD-9/10, and HCPCS codes
• Communicate professionally with providers and management
• Responsible for coding encounters in a timely manner
• Meet or exceed coding production and quality standards
• Understand and apply regulatory changes
