• Partner with engineering, partnerships, and product marketing to bring launches and product updates to life

Systems Engineer

• Build out Substack’s platforms to scale with growing traffic and a multitude of services to support writer and reader communities.
• Contribute to the whole product process in collaboration with designers, writers, support staff, and others. From product concept and research to implementation and deployment, we expect you to own your work and deliver high-quality solutions.
• We primarily work with Node/Express, Postgres, and Redis, and our cloud infrastructure is hosted on AWS. It’s helpful if you know some of these technologies already, if not, we’ll be excited to help you learn.

Account Manager

• Creator acquisition across multiple lifestyle creator segments (fashion, beauty, food, health).
• Relationship development with gatekeepers (agents, managers, editors, writers).
• Display market leadership in the lifestyle creator economy.
• Execute strategic programs for the market in service of activating creators and bringing new users to Substack.
• Working cross-functionally with the communications, product, business operations, data and leadership teams to bring programs to the market on behalf of the Substack brand.

Full-stack Engineer

• Develop features that help writers make more money on Substack.
• Collaborate with designers, writers, support staff, and many others.
• Expected to own your work and operate autonomously.
• Work with TypeScript, especially Node/Express and React, and Postgres.

Full Stack Software Engineer – Growth

Android Engineer

• Develop in the core Android app for creators and their audiences.
• Contribute to high level product and brainstorming discussions around Substack community experiences.
• Iterate on key flows in the Substack mobile apps and web platform, and run A/B tests.
• Collaborate with designers, writers, support staff, and many others. From product concept and research to implementation, experimentation, and measurement, we expect you to own your work and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Work directly with customers to solve their problems. The entire company (CEO included) participates in customer support in order to drive empathy for our users and help us build better products.

Customer Support

• Provide efficient, professional support to creators and subscribers via email and potentially other channels, such as live chat
• Your day-to-day will consist of:
• - Resolving questions, bugs, feedback, and general inquiries, averaging at least 200-300 tickets per week (~80% of your time)
• - Participating in team meetings and project work (~20% of your time)
• - Create and share organized and actionable feedback for our Engineering, Product, and other teams, collaborating to resolve concerns effectively
• - Act as primary point of contact for internal support needs of international team members, including participating in occasional live and virtual events
• - Contribute to team operations via projects or areas of ownership (creating macros, publishing to knowledge bases, tracking trending issues, etc.)

Support Specialist

• Develop the creator onboarding experiences at Substack.
• Develop and support our core publishing tools and creator dashboards.
• Collaborate with designers, marketing, writers, support staff, and many other roles.
• Own your work and deliver high-quality solutions, from product concept & proposal to implementation, experimentation, and measurement.

Lifestyle Partnerships Lead

Solutions Engineer

• Work with our Partnerships team to oversee and assist on high-profile migrations of email lists from external newsletter sites to Substack.
• Managing step-by-step creator processes and solving issues as they arise to create a seamless transition for writers and creators joining Substack.
• Lead and co-lead information sessions for Bestsellers and VIP users, answering technical and product questions.
• Be a resource for Substack best practices, account setup, and issue resolution.
• Partner with internal teams (Partnerships, Communications, Product, Leadership) to support launches, initiatives, and broader platform goals.
