Account Manager

• Take ownership of lead sourcing and outreach to unlock key talent in UK sports- this includes writers, podcasters, multimedia creators as well as public figures
• Work with creators to help them develop their voice and vision on Substack
• Partner closely with the internal marketing, product, and data teams to deeply understand the market and then develop the best strategies to build it
• Build a complete strategy around the sports and fitness vertical, thinking about events that drive back to the platform as well as smart marketing opportunities that help raise Substack’s visibility within this vertical

Product Designer

• Work as a Product Designer focused on video features (players, production flows, editing interfaces, captioning, formats, collaborative flows, watch experiences)
• Rapidly build context about disparate product areas, community dynamics, and industry norms
• Identify high-leverage opportunities and plan paths, batch-sizing, staging, and go-to-market
• Design beautiful, usable, scalable interfaces and flows across product zones (profiles, CRM/analytics, publication aesthetics, moderation systems, email layouts, interactive content)
• Think holistically about second-order effects on Substack as a product system and balance trade-offs
• Help creators and audiences build long-lasting, rewarding relationships and empower audience contributors

• Build out Substack’s platforms to scale with growing traffic and a multitude of services to support writer and reader communities.

• Develop the core Substack product for readers and writers across APIs, low-level services, databases, frontend UI, and testing.

Software Engineer, Video

• Design and build scalable ML infrastructure including model serving systems, feature stores, and training pipelines
• Develop and maintain robust data pipelines for ML workflows, from data ingestion to model deployment
• Implement MLOps best practices including CI/CD for ML models, monitoring, and automated retraining pipelines
• Build and optimize model serving infrastructure to support real-time and batch inference at scale
• Collaborate with ML engineers and data scientists to understand infrastructure requirements and translate them into reliable systems

• Substack is building a new economic engine for culture, empowering independent writers, artists, videographers, podcasters, and creators to make a living through subscriptions.
• Drive Technical Recruitment Processes: lead end-to-end recruitment activities from role kick-offs and sourcing to interviews, debriefs, and offers.
• Develop Diverse Talent Pipelines: implement inclusive sourcing strategies and leverage innovative channels to build a diverse pool of qualified candidates.
• Enhance Candidate Experience: design and deliver a highly engaging, professional, and memorable experience.
• Data-Driven Recruitment: establish, monitor, and analyze key recruiting metrics to optimize processes and forecast hiring needs.

Compliance

• Manage the regulatory workflows and ensure timely completion of requests for various regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, OSA
• Enforce Substack’s content guidelines by moderating flagged content and responding to tickets related to spam, copyright issues, content violations, data subject access requests, appeals, and account recovery
• Efficiently manage moderation and regulatory queues, maintaining accuracy while handling a large number of tickets daily
• Suggest improvements to our policies, procedures, tooling, and strategy to make the team more effective
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Partnerships to investigate complex, and at times urgent, issues facing users and the platform
• This is a full-time role with a Tuesday - Saturday schedule. Candidates are ideally located in SF and able to work in-person at least two days per week. We are also open to exceptional remote candidates based in the US or Canada
