Actuary

• Help estimate the cost of future claims for Motor and Household insurance portfolios while developing strong actuarial and analytical skills.
• Support the production of monthly and quarterly reserving analyses, including maintaining claims development triangles.
• Contribute to the estimation of IBNR and ultimate claims costs using established actuarial techniques such as Chain Ladder and Bornhuetter-Ferguson.
• Analyse and interpret trends in claims experience, working with large datasets through SQL.
• Help build and maintain reserving models and develop Python-based tools to enhance analysis and automate processes.
• Support capital reporting activities and develop an understanding of key capital drivers.

Operations

• Supporting our Delivery Managers to implement a portfolio of change projects, helping a busy Home Claims team to translate great ideas into credible plans that benefit customers, colleagues and our company
• Building a supportive group of stakeholders to draw on for each change, working creatively to solve challenges – all in partnership with frontline colleagues, specialists and the wider Claims/Hastings teams
• Supporting a whole systems thinking approach that ensures each change considers processes across the customer journey and that the change is implemented well with lasting results
• Ensuring processes within each change have been documented and controls are in place to reduce the risk of error, ensuring key performance reporting enables the project benefits to be tracked accurately
• Supporting the delivery of robust plans to implement each change, ensuring each project has clear outcomes, clear timelines and can be embedded into and alongside a busy Claims Operation
• Coordinating changes across several areas including IT systems, processes and customer communications, as well as supporting the budget process for each project

Commercial Manager – Home Claims

Analyst

• As a Commercial Performance Analyst within Home Claims, you’ll be a critical partner to our Commercial Managers, enabling data driven decision making and unlocking value through insight, analytics and technology.
• You’ll sit at the heart of the Commercial function, translating complex data into actionable insight that drives improvements in cost, operational performance and customer outcomes.
• You’ll also play a key role in advancing the use of data, automation and AI to create a more efficient, scalable and market leading Home Claims model.

Commercial Performance Analyst – Home Claims

• Lead a small team of analysts to support improved customer outcomes, risk mitigation, and portfolio performance through telematics-based interventions
• Prioritise team resource and intervention workstreams to support portfolio performance, loss ratio targets, and growth objectives
• Analyse telematics, policy, claims, and customer data to identify opportunities for targeted behavioural interventions and risk improvement
• Develop and deliver insights using telematics data and new analytical approaches
• Take end-to-end ownership of interventions, from idea generation and analysis through to implementation and review
• Design, implement, and refine intervention strategies to improve driving behaviour and reduce claims frequency/severity
• Identify customer segments where targeted interventions can have the greatest positive impact
