Accounts Receivable

• Execute the firm's weekly accounts receivable communication cycle for all outstanding non-withholding invoices, including outbound calls, texts, and emails
• Conduct direct client outreach to collect payment, answer billing questions, and resolve routine account inquiries
• Document all client communications and collection activities within the firm’s case management system
• Provide exceptional support to firm attorneys
• Ensure attorneys are equipped with organized, complete, and accurate information on client accounts
• Coordinate with attorneys when fee disputes escalate beyond routine billing questions
• Serve as the primary SOP and system administrator, ensuring all staff follow established workflows and data entry standards
• Generate weekly and monthly AR performance reports for CFO review, including DSO, aging analysis, and task completion metrics
• Identify process breakdowns and bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions
• Train and support Billing Staff and Client Experience team members who assist with AR task volume
• Initiate process improvement in accounts receivable workflows and client financial communications
• Communicate with empathy and professionalism, recognizing that many veteran clients face financial hardship or service-connected disabilities
• De-escalate routine billing concerns and maintain Berry Law's reputation for veteran advocacy while protecting the firm's financial interests
• Recognize when client circumstances require attorney involvement and escalate appropriately without delay

• Engage with potential and existing clients via inbound and outbound phone calls, text, and email with professionalism and empathy
• Listen actively to client concerns and build genuine rapport at every touchpoint
• Help clients understand how Berry Law can support them — delivering clarity, reassurance, and trust throughout their journey
• Maintain accurate records and client notes in the CRM to ensure continuity and a seamless experience
• Collaborate closely with teammates to elevate the client journey and deliver 'white-glove' service
• Consistently meet or exceed team goals related to service quality, responsiveness, and conversions
• Route calls appropriately to the correct team members or departments
• Execute systematic follow-up communications (calls, emails, texts) with clients who have outstanding balances

• Lead and manage all CAVC appeals from assignment through final disposition
• Identify, evaluate, and pursue meritorious appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
• Monitor and evaluate opportunities for certiorari petitions to the Supreme Court of the United States
• Establish and enforce quality standards for all appellate work product, including briefs, motions, and oral arguments
• Serve as the firm's primary subject matter expert on federal appellate procedure, standards of review, and appellate strategy
• Directly supervise and develop federal appellate team members
• Assign cases and workload across the appellate team based on complexity, skill level, and capacity
• Conduct regular case reviews and provide substantive feedback on legal work product
• Mentor junior appellate practitioners and build the team's collective appellate skill set
• Participate in hiring decisions for appellate team members, including Topgrading interviews
• Monitor federal appellate court decisions — CAVC, Federal Circuit, and SCOTUS — for trends, emerging issues, and precedential developments
• Translate appellate trends into actionable intelligence for the firm's administrative practice teams
• Identify systemic issues in the administrative practice that may create appellate opportunities
• Prepare regular briefings for Platoon Leaders and firm leadership on appellate landscape developments
• Develop and maintain a strategic appellate pipeline — identifying cases in the administrative practice that may be strong appellate candidates
• Work closely with Platoon Leaders and Squad Leaders to identify cases with appellate potential early in the administrative process
• Advise administrative teams on how to build records that will support appellate review
• Provide training to administrative practitioners on appellate standards and how appellate outcomes affect administrative strategy
• Serve as a resource for the broader firm on questions of federal appellate law and procedure
• Track and report key appellate metrics to Platoon Leaders and firm leadership
