About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze complex medical records, military records, and VA decisions to identify the strongest legal path forward.
  • Develop legal strategy for Veterans Disability appeals.
  • Review VA Rating Decisions, Board decisions, C&P examinations, medical records, military records, and claims files.
  • Identify evidentiary strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities to strengthen claims.
  • Determine appropriate legal theories, appeal options, and recommended next steps.
  • Apply VA statutes, regulations, case law, and firm strategy standards consistently across a high volume of cases.
  • Make independent legal decisions quickly while maintaining exceptional quality and accuracy.
  • Document legal strategy clearly and accurately within the firm’s case management system.
  • Collaborate with drafting attorneys and operations to ensure strategic recommendations are executed effectively.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Strong legal analysis, critical thinking, and issue-spotting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume workload.
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to make sound legal decisions efficiently under production expectations.
  • Experience with Veterans Disability law, administrative law, or appellate practice preferred.
  • Experience reviewing medical records and complex evidentiary files preferred.
  • Experience working in a high-volume legal practice preferred.
  • Familiarity with VA regulations, disability ratings, and appeals preferred.
  • Military service or familiarity with military culture preferred.
