About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze complex medical records, military records, and VA decisions to identify the strongest legal path forward.
- Develop legal strategy for Veterans Disability appeals.
- Review VA Rating Decisions, Board decisions, C&P examinations, medical records, military records, and claims files.
- Identify evidentiary strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities to strengthen claims.
- Determine appropriate legal theories, appeal options, and recommended next steps.
- Apply VA statutes, regulations, case law, and firm strategy standards consistently across a high volume of cases.
- Make independent legal decisions quickly while maintaining exceptional quality and accuracy.
- Document legal strategy clearly and accurately within the firm’s case management system.
- Collaborate with drafting attorneys and operations to ensure strategic recommendations are executed effectively.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- Strong legal analysis, critical thinking, and issue-spotting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to independently manage a high-volume workload.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to make sound legal decisions efficiently under production expectations.
- Experience with Veterans Disability law, administrative law, or appellate practice preferred.
- Experience reviewing medical records and complex evidentiary files preferred.
- Experience working in a high-volume legal practice preferred.
- Familiarity with VA regulations, disability ratings, and appeals preferred.
- Military service or familiarity with military culture preferred.
