Account Manager

Data Scientist

• Identify, scope, and deliver high-impact projects end-to-end, leveraging the right resources and partners
• Proactively coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders to maximize the impact and adoption of your work
• Clearly communicate insights and business implications to audiences ranging from technical to executive, using the right level of complexity and narrative to influence decisions and roadmaps
• Develop frameworks and measurement approaches that make complex marketplace and product questions intuitive and actionable
• Apply rigorous analytical and causal inference methods (e.g., experimentation, quasi-experimental designs, forecasting/measurement) balancing rigor with practical constraints (time, complexity, marginal value)
• Own and improve shared decision-making programs and infrastructure, such as experimentation practices, market-based testing, and impact measurement
• Design, build, and maintain shared DS tooling and reusable assets (e.g., notebooks, libraries, training, standardized metrics, and key models that empower other teams)

Senior Data Scientist

Data Engineer

• Collaboratively refine and evangelize a comprehensive framework for integrating data-thinking into the software development lifecycle for product teams
• Design, architect, and maintain core marketplace datasets, data marts, and feature stores that support a blend of mature products and features with a rapidly evolving product line, in partnership with analytics, data science, and machine learning
• Integrate with teams consisting of product engineers, analysts, data scientists, machine learning engineers throughout Thumbtack to understand their data needs, and help design datasets with the same engineering rigor as any other software we design
• Drive data quality and best practices across different business areas
• Help build the next generation data products at Thumbtack, based on real-time data products on top of Apache Kafka

Senior Data Engineer

Backend Engineer

• Own the end-to-end health of Go build and verification pipelines, including performance, reliability, and flakiness reduction.
• Define and implement consistent, high-signal backend CI/CD failure visibility and debugging workflows.
• Improve local backend development and iteration workflows to shorten feedback loops and reduce reliance on staging deploys.
• Establish and enforce Go platform standards, ownership boundaries, and baseline documentation expectations to improve long-term codebase health.
• Proactively improve shared Go codebases to reduce regression risk and increase confidence when making changes.
• Partner with Platform Engineering and other infrastructure teams to align backend infrastructure with existing platform foundations.
• Act as a steward for the backend engineering community by running forums, collecting feedback, sharing progress, mentoring engineers, and reviewing code in shared areas.

Staff Software Engineer, Backend Infrastructure

• Own end-to-end analytics for growth marketing, partnering with Marketing, Finance, and external partners to understand user behavior, define target audiences, measure campaign performance, and forecast and allocate budgets
• Translate ambiguous business questions into rigorous analyses and clear recommendations that improve individual campaign performance and optimize the overall marketing channel mix
• Design, execute, and interpret experiments and quasi-experiments to enable causal inference and inform high-stakes marketing investment decisions
• Partner closely with MarTech, Product Management, and Engineering to scope, build, and evaluate new capabilities—such as developing local market intelligence framework and improvements to customer LTV bidding systems—ensuring measurable performance gains
• Develop deep domain expertise in growth marketing measurement, experimentation, customer segmentation, and targeting optimization, and apply that expertise to influence strategy and execution
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to build scalable analytical solutions, tools, and frameworks that unlock sustained growth
• Raise the bar for Thumbtack’s data culture by designing, maintaining, and documenting high-quality, trusted data tables and metrics that enable self-serve decision-making across teams
