Neurosurgery Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner

• Work in collaboration with the physician in the hospital-based inpatient setting
• Work with critically ill patients, primarily in the Intensive Care Unit or as a surgery first assist in a variety of specialties

Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Breast and Cancer Surgery Clinic

• Provide care that focuses on pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, care of the newborn, and family planning and gynecological needs of the woman.
• Practices under the supervision of one or more collaborating physicians.
• Refers patients who develop complications requiring physician care to an obstetrician.
• Uncomplicated prenatal care within the scope of the Nurse Midwife.
• Intrapartum Care on patients who meet the criteria for normal delivery.
• Pitocin augmentation or induction under the direction and approval of the supervising physician or alternate.
• Use of internal and external monitors.
• Active Rupture of Membranes without consultation only if patient is in active labor, 3 cm, -1 station, and at least 80% effaced.
• Local analgesia/anesthesia including pudendal.
• Must consult physician when deviations from normal rise.
• Normal postpartum care.
• Normal newborn care in the delivery room and/or recovery room only.
• Repair of superficial vaginal and perineal lacerations.
• Complies with all policies and procedures of OB/GYN department and all rules and policies of hospital in Labor and Delivery Nurse Midwifes.
• Documents according to L&D policy in progress notes and L&D record.

Certified Nurse Midwife

• Provides receptionist/clerical support assuring patient flow, comfort and satisfaction
• Answers phones utilizing a computerized system, directing calls appropriately
• Schedules patient appointments in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
• Data entry of patient information and insurance verification
• Updates patient chart electronic or paper
• Gathers necessary paperwork and documents
