About the role
- Manage a portion of ABC13's 13 hours of live daily news across digital and linear endpoints
- Responsible for day-to-day operations, production and leadership of streaming products and live events
- Responsible for linear newscasts: production, execution and news judgement for what goes into newscasts
- Manage and regularly operate newsroom production system alongside producer/anchors
- Produce and manage newscasts in a control room environment and respond quickly to breaking news and events
- Study ratings, research and develop/update strategies for each platform and pivot rapidly as needed
- Train staff who produce linear or streaming newscasts with limited resources
- Collaborate closely with newsroom and station leadership to make strategic decisions
Requirements
- Must have 5 years prior experience
- Top 10 market experience in day-to-day operations, production and leadership of local news streaming products.
- Experience managing teams across digital and linear endpoints
- High attention to detail, understanding the nuances of every element we stream or broadcast
- High technical skill to manage and regularly operate our newsroom production system
- Recent experience being in a control room, producing and managing newscasts
- Ability to make quick, strategic decisions and regularly pivot depending on circumstances
- Close collaboration with other newsroom and station leaders
- Strong, thoughtful but compassionate voice when making decisions with team
- Training experience for those who produce linear or streaming newscasts with limited resources
- Bachelor’s degree in journalist, communication or related field.
