The ALS Association

Director

• Responsible for securing and growing major and planned gifts in support of the ALS Association’s strategic priorities and mission
• Build philanthropic partnerships with individuals and foundations to secure planned gifts and outright gifts at the $5,000 - $25,000 level
• Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward supporters to growing revenue
• Work as a partner to other Development staff to secure major and planned gifts from donors in their portfolios
• Collaborate with Sr Director on fundraising strategies and goals
• Maintain an attitude of abundance, persistence, and urgency
• Must maintain up-to-date knowledge of mission related information on research, advocacy, and care services provided by the Association to inspire giving.

Marketing

• Serve as the MarCom liaison for Development and Mission teams maintaining regular touchpoints to understand goals, identify needs, and manage delivery of requests from intake through completion.
• Manage and prioritize incoming project requests, tracking timelines and keeping work on schedule.
• Advise internal partners on communications best practices and processes, brand consistency, and channel strategy serving as a resource.
• Maintain working knowledge of MarCom's full channel mix, editorial calendar, and planning cycles to guide other teams on timing and approach.
• Gather, develop, and deliver content on behalf of partner departments including stories, program updates, and supporting materials needed for newsletters, emails, and campaigns.
• Help write and edit copy for emails, event promotions, newsletters, and campaign materials — audience-appropriate and aligned with brand voice and organizational messaging.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve content and processes to improve constituents’ experience and serve the needs of internal partners.
• Contribute to marketing and communications plans that support departmental objectives and align with organizational strategy.
• Monitor channel metrics to assess performance and surface insights that inform future planning.

• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to develop proactive communication and media strategies
• Maintain strong knowledge of the organization’s mission areas
• Develop and execute a comprehensive public relations strategy
• Serve as spokesperson and team lead on media interactions
• Oversee organizational response to inquiries
• Actively engage, cultivate, and manage press relationships
• Work with executive team on public speaking engagements
• Develop and oversee a comprehensive media training program
• Lead crisis management communications
• Track and analyze earned media coverage.
