About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for securing and growing major and planned gifts in support of the ALS Association’s strategic priorities and mission
  • Build philanthropic partnerships with individuals and foundations to secure planned gifts and outright gifts at the $5,000 - $25,000 level
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward supporters to growing revenue
  • Work as a partner to other Development staff to secure major and planned gifts from donors in their portfolios
  • Collaborate with Sr Director on fundraising strategies and goals
  • Maintain an attitude of abundance, persistence, and urgency
  • Must maintain up-to-date knowledge of mission related information on research, advocacy, and care services provided by the Association to inspire giving.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional major gift fundraising experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional planned giving experience, including discussing and closing gifts of bequests, beneficiary designations, and charitable gift annuities
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
  • A self-starter with outstanding communication skills
  • Experience in successfully engaging with a diverse staff and range of donors, volunteers, and community members
  • Collaboration skills required to partner with field Development colleagues involved in the achievement of Territory revenue goals
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion with an inherent drive to work and collaborate with diverse populations
  • Ability to work with flexibility in a dynamic team environment and embrace organizational change
  • Commitment to learn and utilize new technologies to improve efficiency and implement strategy
  • Proven track record of closing gifts and meeting fundraising goals
  • Possess integrity, maturity and ethical awareness; ability to handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
