Execute strategic underwriting plans aligned with premium and profitability objectives and service excellence
Underwrite and maintain/service profitable new and renewal business, exercising independent judgment based on comprehensive analysis of reinsurance submissions
Broadly explore business development opportunities including treaty and facultative opportunities, fronted business, program business, traditional cedants and captives, commutations/novations and loss portfolio transfers
Communicate with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, and Accounting on pricing, contract wording, premium & loss bookings and claims to ensure profitability and compliance
Provide top quality customer service to brokers and cedants
Assist in development of internal pricing and modeling tools for pricing options across structures, lines, and currencies (including digital assets)
Negotiate with brokers and clients and offer alternative risk solutions
Assist in executing alternative reinsurance strategies and constructing a risk-managed, diversified reinsurance portfolio
Contribute to ceded strategy across all lines and coordinate reinsurance submission process for ceded treaties and facultative placements
Assist Head of Reinsurance in optimizing reinsurance and alternative reinsurance use in support of business strategy
Oversee implementation and maintenance of reinsurance contracts and programs
Facilitate or participate in quantitative actuarial contract profitability and impact analyses
Develop and maintain security standards for obtaining risk transfer from rated, unrated, and collateralized reinsurers
Maintain understanding of catastrophe modeling concepts where applicable
Build and maintain relationships with reinsurance brokers, reinsurer markets and external partners
Negotiate and manage fronting and capacity relationships globally
Monitor and communicate quarterly reinsurance contract activity and financial information
Assist with reinsurance accounting and maintain updated contract documentation and bordereaus
Respond to inquiries from underwriting, claims, or other disciplines on reinsurance coverage issues
Remain current with product/line changes, reinsurance industry trends, regulatory developments, and develop innovative solutions
Represent Relm at industry events and with clients and perform other duties as required
Requirements
Demonstrated reinsurance underwriting/actuarial acumen with at least 5-7 years of industry experience
Willingness and ability to take an entrepreneurial approach building a reinsurance book from the ground-up
Expertise in crafting tailored reinsurance solutions
Ability to analyze and interpret insurance and reinsurance contracts at an advanced level
Extensive knowledge of policy terms and criteria for reinsurance treaties and facultative certificates
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Exceptional organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects and work independently
Ability to adjust priorities and tasks based on business needs
Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to produce error-free written documents
Ability and willingness to work with others across departments to accomplish team and company goals
Successful completion of college degree in Accounting, Actuarial Management, Business Analytics, Business, Administration, Economics, Finance, Legal Studies, Management Information Systems, Risk Management or CPCU
Must be able to work full time, 40 hours per week Monday through Friday
