About the role
- Drive revenue growth by selling products or services through communication at agency locations and building new agency relationships through prospecting
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers by understanding needs and providing solutions
- Work closely with other departments (marketing, claims, underwriting) to ensure a seamless customer experience and align sales strategies
- Analyze sales metrics and performance data to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to increase sales effectiveness
- Manage agency production and claims experience through report analysis; review production and profitability results with agency personnel and follow up to assure sales objectives are achieved
- Independently recommend and implement corrective action plans; develop and implement rehabilitation and termination programs when necessary
- Establish regular meeting schedules with each assigned agency through in-person agency visits; drive new business submissions to meet corporate growth initiatives
- Promote and provide for agency personnel by facilitating training on company products and systems, including internet-based technologies and new sales techniques
- Act as a liaison between agencies and company to communicate changes and develop opportunities for new and renewal sales
- Work with Agency Sales Team toward established annual sales and production plans; develop talking points and sales approaches
- Pull agency reports to analyze and develop strategies and action plans to manage each agency and territory
- Understand and report new business opportunities, competitor activities, and industry trends
- Lead sales presentations and negotiations with key clients and prospects; develop and implement growth plans with key agencies
- Research and recommend new agencies for appointment by recruiting, interviewing, and assessing fit per guidelines
- Assist agencies in resolving complex complaints regarding underwriting, claims service, or other internal areas
- Collaborate with underwriting to develop core strategies for agencies and support account-level decisions; mentor underwriters on agency dynamics
- Consistently act according to customer experience standards: respond quickly, maintain positive attitude, build rapport, demonstrate empathy, manage expectations, and take ownership
- Seek feedback from customers to identify areas for improvement and work with departments to implement change
- Handle complaints and conflicts to resolve them while maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty

Requirements
- Valid and unrestricted driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to travel frequently (75 - 80%), including overnight state travel (15 - 200-mile radius)
- Property-and-casualty insurance company sales and marketing experience or equivalent agency-facing property-and-casualty industry experience
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages
- Proficient in negotiating and leveraging in business transactions
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain insurance terms, policies, and procedures to agency partners
- Ability to actively listen and understand customer needs and concerns
- Proficient understanding of insurance regulation and compliance requirements to ensure all sales activities adhere to legal standards
- Serve and co-lead project groups to assist in the evolution of coverage, policies, and procedures, and bring forward new ideas and innovation
- Proficient understanding of risk management concepts and how they apply to insurance products and client needs
- Bachelor's degree in business or marketing; experience in lieu of degree acceptable
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employer will not sponsor employment visas
- CIC or CPCU designation preferred (preferred, not required)
