About the role

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with existing and potential customers by understanding their needs and providing solutions
  • Works closely with other departments, such as marketing, claims, and underwriting, to ensure a seamless customer experience and align sales strategies
  • Analyzes sales metrics and performance data to identify areas for improvement and develops strategies for increasing sales effectiveness
  • Manages agency production and claims experience through report analysis; reviews production and profitability results and implements corrective action plans
  • Establishes regular meeting schedules with each assigned agency through in-person agency visits
  • Drives new business submissions to meet corporate growth initiatives for the territory
  • Promotes and provides agency personnel training on company products and systems, including internet-based technologies and new sales techniques
  • Acts as a liaison between agencies and company to communicate changes and develop new and renewal sales opportunities
  • Works with Agency Sales Team toward established annual sales and production plans and develops talking points and sales approaches
  • Pulls agency reports to analyze and develop strategies and action plans for each agency and territory
  • Understands and reports new business opportunities, competitor activities, and industry trends
  • Develops and implements appropriate rehabilitation and termination programs when necessary
  • Leads sales presentations and negotiations with key clients and prospects and develops growth plans with key agencies
  • Recruits and recommends new agencies for appointment by interviewing and assessing fit per guidelines
  • Assists agencies in resolving complex complaints regarding underwriting, claims service, or other internal areas
  • Collaborates with underwriting to develop core strategies, mentor underwriters, and support account-level decisions
  • Consistently acts according to customer experience standards, demonstrating empathy, managing expectations, and taking ownership to resolve issues
  • Handles complaints and conflicts to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel frequently (75 - 80%), including overnight state travel (15 - 200-mile radius); territory is Western Washington
  • Property-and-casualty insurance company sales and marketing experience or equivalent agency-facing property-and-casualty industry experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages
  • Proficient in negotiating and leveraging in business transactions
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain insurance terms, policies, and procedures to agency partners
  • Ability to actively listen and understand customer needs and concerns
  • Proficient understanding of insurance regulation and compliance requirements
  • Experience serving and co-leading project groups to assist in evolution of coverage, policies, and procedures
  • Proficient understanding of risk management concepts
  • Bachelor's degree in business or marketing; experience in lieu of degree acceptable
  • CIC or CPCU designation preferred or record of successful completion of insurance-related continuing education courses
