About the role
- Develop and execute HR strategies that align with company growth and mission
- Oversee all aspects of HR operations including recruiting, employee relations, benefits, and compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws, as well as industry-specific requirements (HIPAA, healthcare/ABA regulations)
- Partner with leadership to design organizational structure, workforce planning, and performance management processes
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations, performance, and retention strategies
- Build and maintain HR policies, employee handbook, and systems to support scalability
- Lead culture and engagement initiatives to promote retention and employee satisfaction
- Manage and mentor a junior HR team member
- Serve as a trusted partner to the executive team and handle key operational HR tasks
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Demonstrated success building or scaling HR functions in a small to mid-sized organization
- Hands-on experience in compliance, employee relations, and recruiting
- Strong knowledge of federal and North Carolina employment laws
- SPHR/PHR certification strongly preferred
- Experience within the ABA, behavioral health, or healthcare field is highly preferred
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Remote role supporting North Carolina and Virginia (Eastern Time Zone highly preferred)
