About the role
- Administer a comprehensive suite of employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, HSA, HRA, FSA, COBRA, 401(k), and life/disability insurance
- Serve as the primary liaison for benefits vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators
- Manage and monitor benefit file feeds, proactively addressing changes, updates, discrepancies, and errors
- Reconcile and review monthly benefits invoices; partner with Payroll to ensure alignment between payroll deductions and enrollment data
- Manage the full lifecycle of employee leaves, including FMLA, PFL, STD, LTD, and other state-mandated programs
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees navigating leave
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local benefits regulations and maintain notices/disclosures
- Collaborate with HRIS and IT to maintain and improve benefits workflows and systems integrations
- Lead annual open enrollment process and employee communications
- Support M&A activities for benefits due diligence and transition planning
- Prepare and deliver benefits reports for Finance, auditors, and regulatory compliance
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in benefits administration or total rewards
- Strong, working knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations and compliance requirements, including ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA, and FMLA
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and benefits platforms (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Rippling, Ease, Employee Navigator)
- Analytical and detail-oriented mindset, with confidence using Excel for data auditing, reconciliation, and reporting
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Experience supporting benefits transitions during mergers and acquisitions is preferred
- CEBS or similar benefits certification is a plus
