About the role

  • Set vision for long-term architecture, strategy, technical roadmap for Notifications platform
  • Design, implement, and run critical tier 0 messaging and notifications services
  • Provide technical leadership for architecture to build highly secure, scalable, reliable, and performant systems
  • Identify dependencies and review key designs to ensure consistency with architecture and business support
  • Lead teams to deliver on multiple projects in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Build an operational center of excellence with effective observability, considerations for scale and performance, and focus on quality
  • Evaluate build vs. buy decisions with trade-offs regarding business criticality and maintainability
  • Partner with EMs, Sr. EMs, and product leaders to prioritize work and create balanced roadmaps
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive org design, execute roadmap, and influence strategy
  • Mentor senior engineers and build the next level of engineering leadership

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
  • 10+ years of experience hands on coding and familiarity with common programming languages (e.g. C, C++, Java, PHP, Python, JavaScript, NodeJS)
  • 10+ years of engineering experience building end-end back end services
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional projects with a meaningful impact on the business
  • Exceptional problem solving, design, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience designing highly scalable systems
  • Experience with relevant industry standards in the Messaging and Notifications space is desirable
  • Sense of humor and appreciation for dad jokes
