About the role
- Lead a small legal team (1–2 in-house counsels) and provide mentorship.
- Provide accurate and timely counsel to executives on commercial agreements, privacy, labor law, corporate governance, and related topics.
- Communicate and negotiate with external parties (external counsel, vendors, potential customers).
- Draft, review and finalize employment agreements, ESOP grant letters, customer agreements, NDAs and other legal documents.
- Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive legal advice to minimize exposure.
- Manage international legal aspects via external legal firms for subsidiaries.
- Create processes and procedures to support a rapidly growing global business.
- Report directly to the CFO and collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, HR, and Product.
- Support ScyllaDB’s business operations in Israel, India, the US and Europe.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws degree from a leading university and a qualified lawyer in Israel - Must.
- 10+ years of commercial and corporate experience from a leading Israeli law firm with high-tech expertise - Must.
- At least 3 years in a General Counsel or Deputy GC role at a high-growth technology company - Must.
- Fluent in English and Hebrew (both verbal and written) at mother language level - Must.
- Prior experience working with large multinational customers and partners.
- Strong knowledge of SaaS, open-source licensing, and commercial law.
- Excellent and extensive drafting and analytical skills, with attention to detail and strategic thinking.
- Solid experience in reviewing, commenting, and advising on commercial contracts.
- Ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure.
- Exceptionally strong communication and interpersonal skills across all channels.
- Efficient and creative problem-solver, comfortable with ambiguity and complexity.
- Ability to take ownership of fast-paced projects with shifting priorities.
- Ability to work flexible hours and work effectively remotely.
- Strong work ethics and ability to multitask, prioritize and follow through on numerous projects simultaneously.
