About the role
- Lead, inspire, control, organize and direct both tactical and strategic district sales activities
- Ownership and responsibility of the district revenue and forecasting
- Routinely and accurately forecast customer demand (product quantities and dollars, orders, shipments)
- Ensure sales staff achieve forecasts, follow company guidelines, and receive development plans for underperformance
- Ensure all documentation tools (e.g., Salesforce.com) are fully utilized, updated, and compliant
- Develop, implement and monitor the district business plan to meet assigned budget
- Recruit, develop, retain and manage the district sales team
- Direct, support and motivate the district sales team to meet targets and objectives
- Ensure Illumina’s commitment to customer satisfaction is performed, delivered, and improved
- Coordinate and/or supervise technical, sales and administrative training for the district sales team
- Monitor, assist, set standards, and evaluate district sales team performance using Illumina’s performance management tools
- Establish territory quotas and achieve quarterly and annual sales and profit plans
- Forecast, monitor and control selling and other expenses within assigned expense budgets
- Liaise with other departments (Marketing, Customer Solutions) and local sales staff to coordinate activities and goals
Requirements
- Minimum of 12+ years of sales experience in the Life Science industry
- Minimum of 1-3 years of sales management experience in the Life Science industry
- Solid understanding of genetics and genomics
- Capital sales experience
- Strong competency in working in a matrixed environment
- Ability to engage at a high level and effectively communicate and influence internal and external audiences (oral and written)
- Strong knowledge of the local genomics landscape
- Experience with Salesforce.com and ensuring documentation/compliance with company policies
- Experience forecasting customer demand, orders, shipments, and revenue
- Experience recruiting, developing, retaining, and managing sales teams
- Ability to set territory quotas and manage district budgets and expenses
- Requires Bachelor's, may require an advanced degree (Master's), in applicable field or equivalent
