About the role
- Own the sales cycle from marketing lead generation to close, targeting accounting firms and decision-makers
- Prospect and hunt for new accountant partners through outbound-driven outreach
- Engage with accountants and firm owners, uncover needs, present Gusto’s value proposition, and deliver product demos
- Identify, engage, close, and activate new accountant partners and ensure successful initial activation
- Drive adoption of Gusto Pro by helping accountants onboard their clients
- Consistently achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets; maintain a robust pipeline
- Utilize Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Outreach, and other sales technologies to optimize performance
- Act as an advisor to guide accounting partners on integrating Gusto into their practice
- Collaborate closely with marketing, product, and customer success teams to drive demand and ensure seamless activation
Requirements
- 5+ years of proven success in new business sales
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in payroll, HCM, SaaS, or HR tech with a focus on accounting firms)
- Hunter mentality – self-motivated, resilient, and relentless in prospecting and closing new deals with accountants
- Experience selling to accounting firms and financial professionals
- Expertise in solution-based selling, consultative sales, and value articulation to accountants
- Strong understanding of the payroll and HR technology industry and its impact on accounting firms
- Proficient with Salesforce and modern sales engagement platforms (e.g., LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Outreach)
- High-level business acumen and ability to speak the language of accountants and financial professionals
- Track record of exceeding quota and winning in a competitive sales environment
