About the role
- Provide overall direction and guidance to the operational activities of the organization
- Provide strategic leadership and management to Operations within a large geographic region
- Maximize growth and profitability while managing regional resources according to company and client expectations
- Develop and implement long- and short-term strategies to achieve financial and growth targets
- Plan and budget regional financial targets and ensure results are achieved against targets
- Ensure operational excellence through standardization, risk assessment, and review of key metrics
- Lead and create an environment that fosters passion, teamwork and agility
- Select, develop and retain talent; improve associate engagement and build bench strength
- Build and sustain long-term client relationships and support sales initiatives
- Plan and execute start-up facilities for new business
- Spearhead teams and partner with clients to troubleshoot and solve issues
- Contribute to sales and solutions team in winning strategic accounts
- Develop and implement operations strategies tailored to clients to improve cost control and margins
- Work collaboratively within a complex matrixed environment with HR, Sales, Finance and other departments
- Directly supervise General Managers and manage performance of direct reports
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, Business or Logistics or equivalent fields is required
- A minimum of 10 years logistics operations management experience with big box", e-commerce or specialty retailers
- At least 5 years’ experience as a regional operations leader managing multiple locations
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications
- Working knowledge of industry WMS
- English (reading, writing, and verbal)
- Ability to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during warmer and colder months
- Ability to lift/carry and push/pull 21-50 pounds; reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
- Excellent verbal, written and visual/presentation communication skills
- Adept at navigating within a matrixed organizational structure
- Results-oriented and able to work and meet timelines
- Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task
- Demonstrated ability to work in a complex matrix environment across multiple levels
- Ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve
- Experience in a client-centric environment with accountability for operations metrics and client relations
- Direct experience preparing budgets and participating in financial reviews with understanding of cost variances
- Has led high-performing teams; can recruit, develop and motivate superior talent
- Integration experience with the supply chain industry is helpful
- Master’s degree preferred
- Third-party logistics experience preferred
