About the role
- Lead and optimize the administration of HR programs, policies, and processes, ensuring they align with Built’s mission, values, and compliance requirements
- Partner with leaders and employees to address questions, resolve issues, and deliver solutions that balance business needs with employee experience
- Own the benefits function end-to-end — from strategy and annual renewal through ongoing administration — including plan design recommendations, vendor evaluations, cost analysis, and employee education
- Serve as the primary liaison with insurance brokers, carriers, and third-party vendors, negotiating terms, reviewing performance metrics, and ensuring high service levels
- Lead the annual open enrollment process, including planning timelines, coordinating with brokers, developing employee communications, delivering presentations, and managing system updates
- Manage FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, and other leave programs, ensuring compliance and a positive employee experience
- Facilitate an engaging, inclusive New Hire Orientation and iterate content to keep it fresh, relevant, and inspiring
- Partner with the Director, Talent Management to create a best-in-class onboarding experience that accelerates time-to-productivity
- Collaborate with People leadership to refine employee development plans, performance review cycles, and engagement initiatives
- Manage vendor relationships (e.g., I-9 compliance providers), holding partners accountable to service-level agreements and quality standards
- Track and analyze HR and benefits data, identifying trends, recommending improvements, and creating reports for leadership
- Lead compliance efforts for mandatory postings, reporting, and filings; maintain accurate, compliant personnel records
- Handle unemployment claims, investigations, and sensitive employee relations matters with discretion and fairness
- Serve as a process owner for case management (JIRA, AllVoices), ensuring timely resolution and continuously refining workflows
- Mentor and guide more junior HR team members on process execution, systems, and best practices
- Support employee life cycle actions at key milestones (new hire support, terminations, etc.)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience)
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a fast-paced, growth environment
- Demonstrated expertise in benefits strategy, administration, and vendor management, including negotiating with brokers and carriers, analyzing plan performance, and delivering employee-facing education
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local HR compliance and employment law, with experience applying it in a multi-state environment
- Proven success leading annual open enrollment from planning through post-enrollment analysis
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, preferably ADP Workforce Now, and experience leveraging HR tech for automation and insights
- Skilled at analyzing HR and benefits metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate sensitive issues and build trust across the organization
- Adept at managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and improving processes without being asked
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
