Accounting Manager

• Manage the Accounts Payable Specialist, Accounts Receivable Specialist, and Property Administrator positions.
• Ensure compliance with Saul Centers’ internal controls over accounts payable, including proper account coding and approvals.
• Ensure timely and accurate payments.
• Coordinate with internal treasury function and banks on positive pay and electronic payments.
• Ensure effective and timely communication with tenants.
• Review tenant accounts receivable reports and ensure timely and accurate application of tenant payments.
• Work with Controller to identify and implement improvements, especially with respect to the processing of electronic payments.
• Review tax recovery and operating expense recovery accruals.
• Review utility expenses and recoveries.
• Review supporting monthly schedules for accuracy and completeness and agreement with the general ledger.
• Provide guidance and feedback to property accountants and lease analysts to ensure timely and accurate completion of daily responsibilities.
• Train property accountants to ensure cross training on all functions.
• Execute on the department’s priorities through daily interaction, staff meetings, coaching and counseling.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with the accounting staff and with colleagues across the organization.
• Review year end expense recovery billings to tenants, ensuring that they are completed both accurately and timely.
• Backup the lease abstract and rent roll processes.
• Document all activities appropriately to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and an effective and successful audit.
• Perform special projects as directed by Controller and/or Assistant Controller.

Accounts Payable

• Process check runs and void checks when necessary; review, match, and mail checks in a timely manner; ensure that general ledger coding is correct
• Review and verify Purchase Card Program purchases and properly allocate expenses
• Maintain vendor accounts and ensure accounts are paid up to date; establish proper communication with vendors and keep accounting team up to date with accurate records
• Maintain designated accounts payable files
• Assist in monthly and year end close items i.e. account reconciliations
• Assist with special projects as necessary
• Answer calls on behalf of the office when needed; direct calls to proper teammate and take messages as needed
• Perform ad hoc administrative tasks and maintain front desk area

Accounts Payable Specialist / Front Desk Administrator

• Oversee all resident services at Park Van Ness and assist the General Manager in overall community operations
• Represent and uphold a high standard of customer service and professionalism with prospective residents and team members
• Implement programs and services for residents and prospective residents to achieve annual business goals
• Report and manage leasing files
• Develop a thorough understanding of the assigned community’s competitive set and make pricing and marketing recommendations to optimize performance
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, specifically Fair Housing and affordable housing regulations

Assistant General Manager

Accountant

• Responsible for all aspects of property accounting for a complex portfolio of properties, extracting financial data for input into the accounting system.
• Monitor tenant accounts and manage tenant relationships.
• Complete the monthly close, prepare property operating statements, book monthly accruals, and provide explanations for budget to actual variances.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Research inquiries from senior management during the monthly and quarterly closes.
• Prepare tax and operating expense recovery billings.
• Abstract lease documents into the accounting ledger.
• Review and post monthly fixed charges and send courtesy statements.
• Apply cash to tenants’ accounts receivable and correspond with tenants regarding their accounts.
• Collaborate with Collections and Property Management departments to provide information and resolve tenant inquiries as needed.
• Assist with training of other accountants and with special projects or assignments as necessary.

Accountant II

• Oversee the Corporate hotel accounting team.
• Prepare and develop Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.
• Oversee the production of all financial reports.
• Analyze hotel performance based on monthly financial reports.
• Review month end balance sheet reconciliations.
• Reconcile corporate balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Review bank statements and reconciliations monthly.
• Timely record deposit corrections based on various bank reconciliations.
• Analyze stale-dated checks monthly to determine whether such checks should be voided or escheated.
• Verify payroll net deposits for transfer, prepare log for unclaimed payroll checks quarterly.
• Contribute to the hotels annual budget preparation.
• Assist the internal and external audits.
• Respond in a timely and professional manner to all inquiries from internal and external auditors.
• Participate in special assignments as requested
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all company policies and accounting procedures.
• Maintain accurate files on all accounting data.
• Complete month-end closing procedures as specified.
• This position is based in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• This role does not require any travel.
