About the role
- Own and manage payroll processing, 401K contributions, and miscellaneous benefits processing
- Establish relationships across Finance and cross-functional stakeholders
- Identify areas of improvement in bimonthly payroll process and systems
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to department documentation goals
- Implement procedures to strengthen internal controls and own tax compliance research, resolution, and documentation
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance workflows and efficiency
- Serve as payroll subject matter expert to scale payroll function and implement appropriate systems
- Support payroll operations in a fast-paced, high-growth, multi-state environment and assist in external audits
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in payroll operations in a supervisory role
- Expertise in U.S. federal, state and local payroll taxation
- Experience supporting payroll operations for multi-state employees
- Hands-on experience optimizing payroll processes and implementing systems
- Experience working cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Technology and external partners
- Subject matter expertise in payroll, internal controls, and tax compliance
- Experience assisting in external audits and preparing payroll documentation
- Strong customer service mindset and problem-solving mentality
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
