About the role
- Manage a portfolio of wholesale carriers, service providers, and channel partners as their trusted advisor and day-to-day contact
- Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities across voice, data, IP transit, and fibre services
- Develop and execute tailored account plans aligned with partner goals and company strategy
- Track account usage, service delivery, and trends to identify optimisation and upsell opportunities
- Drive contract negotiations, identify pricing strategies, and lead business reviews to drive mutual growth
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Delivery, Engineering, Marketing, and Support to resolve issues and enhance partner experience
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to inform strategy
- Maintain accurate records of interactions, opportunities, and risks using CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce) and provide regular performance updates to senior leadership
- Take ownership of strategic relationships across the wholesale telecoms and fibre partner landscape and drive partner success through the aquila wholesale platform
- Report directly to the Sales Director
Requirements
- Highly experienced and results driven Sales Account Manager
- Deep understanding of voice and data wholesale markets
- Established industry relationships in wholesale telecoms and fibre
- Consistent track record of achieving revenue targets, including multimillion-pound targets
- Strategic thinker with excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to manage and grow high-value accounts
- Solid experience in sales and account management within wholesale telecoms, fibre, and B2B technology sectors
- Deep understanding of global voice and data markets, including interconnects, bandwidth sales, and fibre infrastructure
- Familiarity with telecoms technologies such as IP, MPLS, SD-WAN, and fibre networks
- Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce) and Excel
- Data-driven account planning skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly organised and detail-oriented
- Ability to collaborate with Product, Delivery, Engineering, Marketing, and Support teams
