About the role

  • Manage assigned principals’ business in a defined marketing area to increase sales, market share, and profitability for manufacturers and Acosta
  • Deliver principals’ volume, share, and sales fundamental goals (merchandising, assortment, pricing, and shelving) at lowest possible cost while maximizing company revenue
  • Communicate principals’ priorities to Retail Sales Managers, Sales Technology Managers, Marketing Managers, Business Managers, and the retail selling organization
  • Report to the General Manager or Team Leader and participate in introduction, development, design, and presentation activities for new principals
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with principals and customers; proactively communicate with key principals
  • Coordinate communication between General Managers and key principals and collaborate on major retail initiatives (new product introductions, selling drives, contests)
  • Coordinate principals’ market visits and key account calls and leverage customer, market, and principal knowledge to sell programs and initiatives
  • Leverage insights from senior leadership to develop conceptual sales presentations that deliver principals’ objectives
  • Provide feedback on principals’ strategies, selling programs, and initiatives and suggest ways to improve organizational capacity
  • Maintain account distribution information, review market pricing reports for accuracy and competitive activity, and collect/report competitive activity
  • Proactively manage personal skill development plan and share customer/manufacturer information with team members
  • Ensure client procedures and policies are followed, manage promotional plans and fund balances, and monitor financial management (including deductions)
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall business success

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • A proven track-record in sales; preferably with a food broker or national company
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation, negotiation, and sales skills
  • Ability to analyze sales and marketing information needed to make effective sales presentations
  • Proficient in a variety of software packages used to support the sales function
  • Willing to travel
