Civil Engineer

• Work within a project team of engineers and designers in our Civil Group.
• Detailed technical knowledge of structural engineering design including steel and concrete structures, shallow and deep foundations.
• Knowledge of Civil works including site preparation, earthworks and retaining walls.
• Adequate knowledge of applicable Canadian codes and standards.
• Proficient on software applicable to structural engineering design such as STAAD-Pro as well as experience with AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of safety in design principles.
• Ability to lead a small to medium size design project from start to completion with minimal oversight.
• Ability to mentor / provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Results-oriented and self-driven individual with experience juggling multiple projects and meeting project deadlines.
• Strong and confident communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to write clear and concise documents and be able to clearly explain technical information and concepts to internal and external parties.
• Client-focused – attending client meetings and maintaining good working relationships with Clients.

Civil Engineer – EIT

• Support wind projects during the RFP phase
• Support tender processes, including development, analysis and recommendations (preliminary design, geotechnical desktop studies, hydrology, road and pad design, etc.)
• Prepare civil specifications and owner’s requirements to advance project design
• Coordinate and/or execute preliminary civil design, including layouts, foundations, roads, turbine pads, laydown areas and substations
• Perform trade-off analyses in collaboration with Resource, GIS and Construction teams
• Review consultants’ deliverables to ensure quality, scope, budget and schedule compliance
• Review specifications and documentation for EPC contracts and engineering consultants
• Review civil designs and studies
• Ensure coordination with other disciplines (environment, health & safety, etc.)
• Review and approve drawings to ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety codes
• Provide site engineering support including inspection and monitoring of civil works
• Respond to RFIs and review/approve submittals
• Coordinate engineering activities and manage consultants’ scope, budgets and schedules
• Interface with project management, construction, finance and other technical teams throughout project lifecycle

• Structural engineering design and calculations for all structural components including columns, beams, slabs, foundations, and lateral systems.
• Design and engineering using materials such as structural steel, concrete, masonry, cold formed structural steel, and wood.
• Assemble and coordinate engineering drawings and contract documents in collaboration with our BIM technologists and other members of the engineering team.
• Conduct field reviews and other contract administrative duties.
• Draft project-related correspondence.
• Lead internal project design teams, including delegating appropriate design tasks and overseeing the technical production of design engineers.
• Participate in client meetings, facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges and providing status updates.
• Review of architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
• Mentoring and coaching of junior staff to help cultivate their professional development.
• Develop and monitor project budgets.
• Such other duties and responsibilities as Entuitive may assign to you from time to time.

Senior Structural Engineer

• Structural design of hydraulic structures, hydroelectric power plants and related structures (concrete and steel)
• Rehabilitation of hydraulic works, hydroelectric power plants and related structures
• Multidisciplinary coordination, attending and leading design meetings (internally and with the client)
• Production of preliminary and detailed engineering, preparation and/or verification of design calculations and associated calculation notes
• Participation and supervision of the production of design reports, structural drawings and technical specifications for calls for tenders
• Follow-up the works during construction.

Structural Engineer

• Perform conveyance engineering, stormwater management and site design which may include engineering models and drawings, hydraulic system calculations, pipe design calculations, quantity calculations and cost estimating
• Understand and follow established design guidelines and standards
• Work with designers and modellers, including working directly in modelling and design software at times, to develop design elements including conveyance alignments and profiles, site and stormwater management grading
• Review, interpret, summarize and evaluate existing information such as sewer inspection CCTV, as-built drawings, reports, and GIS databases
• Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, applications for regulatory agencies, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables
• Coordinate with CAD technicians for preparation of engineering drawings
• Carry out site visits to collect field data, then compile field notes and photographs
• Proactively assist project managers with project administration including progress reports, schedule updates, document control, meeting agendas and minutes, and design team coordination
• Attend and assist in client, contractor, stakeholder, and regulatory agency meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals, project requirements, site assessments, key challenges, coordination
• During construction review shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, carry out site inspection and prepare site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks

Civil Engineer – in training (EIT)

• Lead the development of business opportunities and oversee project execution across the Atlantic region
• Act as technical authority and escalation point for complex and high-risk marine structural projects
• Define and approve design approaches, standards, and methodologies for ports and marine infrastructure
• Provide technical oversight and direction to senior and intermediate engineers
• Oversee QA/QC across project deliverables and ensure alignment with applicable codes and standards
• Support and contribute to proposal development, scope definition, fee estimation, and technical content
• Maintain trusted client relationships and provide senior technical input to support long-term client needs
• Provide construction-phase technical leadership and resolve complex field issues
• Mentor senior engineers and support technical progression and succession planning within the Ports & Marine team

Principal Marine Structural Engineer

• Perform civil engineering design which may include engineering drawings, hydraulic system calculations, pipe design calculations, grading design, condition assessment, engineering reports, design criteria, and prepare applications for regulatory agencies
• Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables
• Attend and assist in client, contractor, stakeholder, and regulatory agency meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals, project requirements, site assessments, key challenges, coordination
• Recognize when technical problems are developing and initiate appropriate corrective actions
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent

Civil Engineer – Water

• Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management
• Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry
• Prepare design documents and compile engineering packages
• Analyze structural systems and elements as required using Analysis Software programs
• Ensure compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations
• Accountable for the delivery of all engineering deliverables/task to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets
• Provide technical instructions to Junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation
• Review and comment on the work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation
• Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question
• Perform plant walkdowns as and if required in support of design requirements definition and detailed engineering of design modifications

Intermediate Civil/Structural Engineer

• Duties include design and drafting for the preparation of civil works drawings for land development projects, including; subdivisions, commercial and industrial sites, as well as public sector capital infrastructure projects, including roads, transit, deep utilities, and streetscape projects
• Lead and assist the CAD Team with projects from developing plans, section details, schedules, and quantity take-offs
• Attend client, municipal, and authority meetings
• Completion of tasks received from the engineers
• Ability to resolve and/or communicate any technical issues that may arise
• Coordination of sub-consultants and municipal approvals
• Preparation of detailed construction drawings and details
• The oversight of drafting and design output from junior engineers and technologists, which may include project management for the coordination and delivery of a complete, detailed design drawing package
• The provision of quality control on drafting, presentations, and design for any given drawing package

Civil Engineering Technologist – Land Development

• Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification, design, and ageing management for steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry systems
• Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, including calculations and technical specifications
• Analyze structural systems using industry software such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, and SSASI
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, regulations, and company QA programs
• Lead delivery of engineering tasks within budget and schedule
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff and review engineering work

Senior Civil Engineer

• Responsible for the design of structural elements and systems in steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
• Work on multiple projects of small to large scale using various materials.
• Interact with a wide variety of clients from owners, developers, consultants, and contractors.
• Prepare design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for concrete, steel, masonry, and wood building structures.
• Prepare and revise documentation at various design phases, including floor plans, diagrams, and details.
• Work with team members in determining viable solutions for design issues.
• Work to and meet project timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate design work with other disciplines, other offices, and other project team members.
• Preparation and review of technical reports.
• Participate in constructability reviews.
• Participate in Stantec’s quality assurance and quality control process.
• Construction administration including site reviews.
• Mentoring, coaching, and training of less experienced professionals as required.

Intermediate Structural Engineer

• leading projects with support from a Senior Engineer with the design delivery of larger scale or multi-disciplinary land development, municipal and transportation projects
• Perform civil design using knowledge of relevant software programs
• Complete the civil design for infill, greenfield, and brownfield land development, municipal and public space projects, and/or transportation focused projects
• Lead small to medium scale projects
• Review and prepare civil designs for site grading and site servicing including water distribution, sanitary sewers, storm water management, shallow utilities, and erosion control design
• Prepare due diligence reports and land reviews providing knowledge on overall servicing for potential land purchases for our client base
• Build and foster relationships with clients, municipal, and provincial approving authorities
• Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior and design technical staff
• Complete field reviews as necessary during the construction administration phase of own projects
• Participate in quality assurance and quality control review on own projects and projects of peers
• Assist in the development of new standards and processes for the design team
• Contribute to the development of proposals and the development of project scope and fees through a design focused lens

• Support multi-disciplinary municipal civil projects, related to new build and infrastructure renewal
• Undertake detailed studies and design tasks associated with water related projects including site civil, conveyance, and water resources projects
• Perform project administration, including coordination of and preparing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, completing progress reports, and assisting in project management
• Write reports and design briefs
• Take responsibility for the quality of your written, technical and graphic work, and for completing work on time and on budget
• Coordinate design drawing and specification development
• Attend internal, client, and contractor meetings and document the meetings with minutes
• Contract Administration as required for a wide variety of construction projects
• Assist with site visits and field investigations as necessary
