About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural components across a range of railway and transit projects
- Contribute to new build, rehabilitation, and asset renewal programs, including structural designs for railway bridges and culverts
- Prepare and review design calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Undertake condition assessments, inspections, structural evaluations, and rehabilitation recommendations for existing railway assets
- Collaborate with track, civil, geotechnical, drainage, systems, signalling, electrical, and roadway disciplines to develop integrated design solutions
- Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, risk reviews, and constructability assessments
- Provide support during procurement and construction phases, including shop drawing reviews, responses to RFIs, field reviews, and site support as required
- Contribute to proposals, technical approaches, and client presentations for new opportunities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration with the applicable provincial engineering association
- Progressive experience in structural engineering design and delivery, preferably in rail, transit, transportation, or other linear infrastructure environments
- Demonstrated experience with structural analysis, design, and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and/or timber structures
- Knowledge of applicable Canadian design codes and standards, including structural and transportation-related requirements
- Familiarity with rail authority, transit agency, or owner requirements is considered a strong asset
- Experience undertaking inspections, evaluations, and rehabilitation design for existing assets is an asset
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary project delivery in complex infrastructure settings
- Proficiency with structural engineering software and design tools relevant to analysis and documentation
- Experience with BIM / digital delivery environments and coordination platforms is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
