About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural components across a range of railway and transit projects
Contribute to new build, rehabilitation, and asset renewal programs, including structural designs for railway bridges and culverts
Prepare and review design calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Undertake condition assessments, inspections, structural evaluations, and rehabilitation recommendations for existing railway assets
Collaborate with track, civil, geotechnical, drainage, systems, signalling, electrical, and roadway disciplines to develop integrated design solutions
Participate in design reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings, risk reviews, and constructability assessments
Provide support during procurement and construction phases, including shop drawing reviews, responses to RFIs, field reviews, and site support as required
Contribute to proposals, technical approaches, and client presentations for new opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering
Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration with the applicable provincial engineering association
Progressive experience in structural engineering design and delivery, preferably in rail, transit, transportation, or other linear infrastructure environments
Demonstrated experience with structural analysis, design, and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and/or timber structures
Knowledge of applicable Canadian design codes and standards, including structural and transportation-related requirements
Familiarity with rail authority, transit agency, or owner requirements is considered a strong asset
Experience undertaking inspections, evaluations, and rehabilitation design for existing assets is an asset
Strong understanding of multidisciplinary project delivery in complex infrastructure settings
Proficiency with structural engineering software and design tools relevant to analysis and documentation
Experience with BIM / digital delivery environments and coordination platforms is an asset
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
