About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform design for building structure projects in substations and generating stations;
- Perform design for civil discipline projects for substations for Hydro-Québec, or for other clients in Canada and the United States;
- Carry out projects related to the design of transmission towers (pylons) for Hydro-Québec;
- Conduct surveys and inspections in collaboration with other disciplines;
- Contribute to the preparation of drawings and specifications, and prepare quantity and cost estimates;
- Contribute to structural assessments/expert reports for reinforced concrete and steel structures;
- Verify the compliance of drawings, calculations and technical data sheets;
- Ensure quality follow-up of work and respond to site correspondence;
- Supervise the updating of as-built / final drawings;
- Lead and supervise a small technical team (CPI, technicians, draftspeople) within projects;
- Monitor project schedules and collaborate on budget control with the project manager;
- Communicate with clients and external professionals to ensure effective coordination;
- Participate in the preparation of service proposals;
- Perform any other duties related to the position.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (structural option) or equivalent;
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in structural project design, including supervision of technical resources;
- Licensed member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
- Experience in structural assessment of concrete dams (an asset);
- Experience in transmission tower (pylon) design (an asset);
- Experience on projects for Hydro‑Québec (an asset);
- Experience in strengthening/retrofit of existing structures (an asset);
- Experience in design and detailing of steel connections (an asset);
- Strong knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada;
- Proficiency with CSA A23.3 (concrete) and CSA S16 (steel) standards;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAFI (or equivalents: ETABS, SAP, Advance Design);
- Knowledge of PLS‑TOWER (an asset);
- Knowledge of SAFE (an asset);
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with rigor and autonomy;
- Good team spirit, organizational skills, curiosity and attention to detail.
