Operates a vehicle specific to the assigned line of business safely and efficiently, servicing routes in compliance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT regulations and all local, state and federal laws
Conducts on-the-job training and coaching on proper vehicle operation, defensive driving techniques, and adherence to safety practices for new drivers and retrains drivers with performance issues
Observes drivers to assess ability to safely operate and maneuver a WM vehicle and provides immediate, constructive feedback
Instructs and reinforces WM SAFETY defensive driving skills, WM Way processes, and OBU tablet usage
Keeps accurate records of driver progress, completed training tasks, and coaching recommendations
Reports driver performance data to the Operations Manager and Onboarding Optimization Manager and recommends additional coaching if needed
Mentors drivers by providing guidance and support during role transition
Promotes company values and safety standards, ensuring drivers uphold performance and compliance expectations
Requirements
High School or GED Required
2 years of experience operating a WM vehicle requiring a CDL Required
Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an air-brake endorsement Required
2 years equivalent military driving within the last seven (7) years (Preferred)
2 years equivalent experience in supervising personnel, training or coaching others (Preferred)
Comply with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT regulations and all local, state and federal laws
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections
Ability to operate vehicle specific to the assigned line of business safely and efficiently
Willingness to obtain REAL ID or TSA approved alternative if required for travel or federal property access
