Provide strategic, operational, and administrative leadership for USWAG in collaboration with the Board and Associations International
Execute strategic plans, budgets, and financial strategy
Oversee daily operations, programs, and services aligned with member needs
Evaluate new initiatives and revenue opportunities
Serve as advisor and facilitator to the Board of Directors
Represent USWAG publicly and professionally as spokesperson and advocate
Serve as a liaison between the Technical Committee Chairs and the Board
Oversee Board and Technical Committee nominations, elections, orientation, and succession planning
Ensure compliance with the organization’s bylaws and policies and applicable regulatory requirements
Foster a member-centric culture to drive engagement and retention
Maintain and build collaborative relationships with members, relevant regulatory agencies, industry coalitions, and other partners
Identify new areas for membership growth and expansion
Lead communication strategy including digital, media, and member updates
Support development of technical content and policy updates
Oversee planning and execution of events, conferences, and workshops
Report to both the AI Chairman and USWAG Board of Directors with responsibilities aligned to USWAG’s bylaws, strategic plan, and budget
Requirements
Experience with regulatory agencies, processes, and technical advocacy (background in the electric utility industry or environmental regulation preferred)
Strategic and political acumen to navigate complex stakeholder environments
Strong communication, writing, public speaking, and advocacy skills to represent USWAG and attract members
Proven project management skills and experience working with or supporting a Board of Directors
Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree or credentials preferred
Travel of up to 20% for business needs, including meetings, conferences, and site visits
Established network with agencies such as EPA and DOT/PHMSA (preferred)
Understanding of technical advocacy vs. political lobbying (preferred)
Experience in membership-based organizations, coalition-building, or prior Executive Director/board service (preferred)
