Manage and oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees and supervising the payroll team.
Train and equip team members to carry out payroll duties effectively and manage talent, hiring, succession planning, performance, and development.
Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA).
Maintain accurate payroll records, prepare reports, and ensure confidentiality of payroll and employee data.
Implement and manage automated payroll systems; evaluate and recommend changes to payroll software and technologies.
Conduct regular audits of payroll data including hours, salaries, deductions, and reconcile with benefit plans and policies.
Ensure accurate payroll deductions and reporting for employee benefit programs such as health insurance and retirement plans.
Coordinate with HR, Accounting, and third-party service providers to resolve discrepancies, manage agency notices, review vendor tax filings, and reconcile quarterly and annual reporting.
Manage priorities, workload distribution, remove barriers, and ensure a high-performing payroll team.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in Payroll Processing or related experience.
Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field and/or commensurate experience.
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Oracle, Workday) and advanced spreadsheet skills.
Advanced certifications (i.e., Certified Payroll Professional) preferred but not required.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Experience with payroll audits, tax filings, reconciliations, and vendor coordination.
Experience managing, training, and developing payroll staff.
