About the role

  • Manage and oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees and supervising the payroll team.
  • Train and equip team members to carry out payroll duties effectively and manage talent, hiring, succession planning, performance, and development.
  • Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA).
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, prepare reports, and ensure confidentiality of payroll and employee data.
  • Implement and manage automated payroll systems; evaluate and recommend changes to payroll software and technologies.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll data including hours, salaries, deductions, and reconcile with benefit plans and policies.
  • Ensure accurate payroll deductions and reporting for employee benefit programs such as health insurance and retirement plans.
  • Coordinate with HR, Accounting, and third-party service providers to resolve discrepancies, manage agency notices, review vendor tax filings, and reconcile quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Manage priorities, workload distribution, remove barriers, and ensure a high-performing payroll team.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Payroll Processing or related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field and/or commensurate experience.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Oracle, Workday) and advanced spreadsheet skills.
  • Advanced certifications (i.e., Certified Payroll Professional) preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
  • Experience with payroll audits, tax filings, reconciliations, and vendor coordination.
  • Experience managing, training, and developing payroll staff.
