About the role
- Identify and research potential customers within the assigned territory through prospecting, cold calling, networking events, and attendance at trade shows.
- Build and nurture long-term, strategic relationships with clients through regular meetings, phone calls, site visits, and proactive communication.
- Conduct in-person sales visits and presentations to K–12 schools and districts, including meetings with teachers, department heads, and C-level education executives.
- Understand each client’s world language program goals, challenges, and timelines, and act as a trusted advisor by recommending tailored solutions from Wayside’s portfolio.
- Prepare and present comprehensive proposals, including product recommendations, pricing, timelines, and service packages.
- Guide clients through onboarding and product implementation in collaboration with the customer success and support teams.
- Develop and maintain strategic account plans for key clients, continuously identifying opportunities for account expansion and revenue growth.
- Serve as the voice of the customer, advocating for client needs internally and collaborating with marketing, product, and operations teams.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and market developments.
- Achieve and exceed assigned sales targets, driving revenue growth and market share within your territory.
- Maintain detailed and up-to-date client records, sales pipeline stages, and activity logs in Salesforce to support accurate forecasting and reporting.
- Travel approximately 50% of the time, which may include monthly flights, strategic territory mapping, and overnight visits, in adherence to the approved travel budget.
- Territory: Pennsylvania and New Jersey (candidate must reside within the territory).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven success in a field sales or outside sales role, preferably in a B2B or educational environment.
- Strong sales acumen, including prospecting, relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and driven to achieve measurable results and exceed sales targets.
- Skilled at managing a dynamic schedule, prioritizing tasks, and navigating independently while traveling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Experience with marketing automation platforms (Pardot experience is a plus).
- Proficiency in Salesforce (or equivalent CRM).
- Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret data and customer insights.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region, including overnight trips and air travel.
- Experience or familiarity with the educational K-12 market is strongly preferred.
- Teaching experience — especially in world languages — is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following languages is a strong plus but not required: Spanish, French, German, Italian.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, customer service, product, and operations teams.
