About the role
- Provide subject matter expertise and leadership on categories including construction, operations facilities, and procurement of chargers, switch gears, and other equipment
- Develop multi-year category strategies in partnership with stakeholders to maximize value creation
- Lead the end-to-end RFX process and build relationships with strategic suppliers
- Oversee complex, Waymo-wide supplier relations and develop solutions using foresight to anticipate trends and issues
- Negotiate and draft agreements to minimize financial and business risk and enforce supplier accountability
- Analyze data to determine negotiation value and changes in total cost of ownership
- Solve multi-dimensional issues by implementing new processes, systems, or policies that address Waymo’s indirect procurement needs
- Partner with internal stakeholders to drive cost savings, mitigate risk, and ensure operational excellence
- Report to the Head of Indirect Procurement (remote role)
Requirements
- At least 10 years of procurement experience including 7+ years focusing on physical security, facilities, or construction services spend areas
- Sourcing skills including identifying sourcing opportunities, performing spend analysis, development of sourcing strategy, project management, development of RFX documents, negotiation, contract management, supplier benchmarking, contract compliance, purchase order development, resolution of payment issues
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all internal and external business contacts
- Ability to perform make versus buy outsourcing analyses and to develop total cost of ownership models
- Ability to influence others and to act as a change agent within their team and company
- High personal integrity and ethics
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain or related field or equivalent education and work experience
- Preferred: Internal or external business consulting experience
- Preferred: Demonstrated track record for being innovative and delivering measurable results in fast-changing organizations
- Preferred: Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills
