About the role
- Cover all things beauty on The Strategist on a daily basis and during tentpole events like Prime Day and Black Friday/Cyber Monday
- Work with and report to the senior editor who oversees all Strategist beauty coverage
- Identify story ideas, conceive approaches from The Strategist’s point of view, and pitch headlines
- Write and pitch short and longer stories and reviews that engage and enlighten readers
- Test new releases and closely follow beauty news and shopping trends
- Monitor social media to keep on top of breaking news and cultural conversations
- Contribute to the weekly Beauty Brief newsletter
- Play a key role during sales events throughout the year and work during sales holidays like Black Friday/Cyber weekend
Requirements
- At least 5 years of writing experience in a newsroom, specifically as a beauty journalist with hands on testing experience
- Super organized and able to manage working on a tight deadline while liaising with multiple teams
- Passionate about shopping and testing new products; excellent at sniffing out deals and helping people shop smartly
- Ability to work independently and quickly
- Thorough understanding of the online shopping-sphere, specifically when it comes to beauty brands
- Strong understanding of the Strategist tone and sensibility
- Actively monitor social media to track breaking news and trends
