About the role
- Assist study of the role of ZHOUPI genes in cell death and breakdown of embryo-surrounding maternal tissues in Marchantia polymorpha and other non-seed plant models
- Work in the group of Prof. Justin Goodrich in the Institute of Molecular Plant Sciences, supported by a full time Post Doctoral Research Assistant (PDRA)
- Characterise genes that control programmed cell death and cell separation during breakdown of maternal tissues
- Help with plant transformation, molecular cloning, maintaining genetic stocks and mutant screens
- Collaborate with Hetherington lab, Moritz Nowack’s group (University of Ghent) and other plant research groups
- Support PDRA and contribute to experiments, data collection, record-keeping and reporting to the PI
Requirements
- BSc or equivalent Degree in an appropriate biological science
- Preferably a postgraduate qualification such as a Masters degree
- Experience with plant genetics and molecular biology
- Two years or more experience working in a lab
- Good communication skills
- Good record keeping and organisation
- Must evidence right to work in the UK; the University will not consider applicants requiring sponsorship
