Assess safety of nuclear power plants under construction, modelling hazards such as fire, flood, seismic events, reactor core damage, and environmental consequences
Evaluate potential risks to safe operation and ensure a robust safety case
Develop PSA models for the UK EPR reactor fleet and maintain oversight of PSA work from Responsible Designer in France
Provide Risk Informed Design insights to enhance design, construction, commissioning, and operational safety
Contribute specialist expertise to site-specific safety cases; manage, review, and accept work from specialist contractors
Act as the Intelligent Customer for the HPC and SZC Licensees
Build and maintain strong, trusted relationship with safety regulator
Develop PSA models and methodologies into an operational, living PSA supporting safe, compliant operations across the fleet
Requirements
Experience in Probabilistic Safety Analysis, safety case development, or working with complex industrial plant design
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Solid academic background in science, engineering, or another numerate discipline
Proven technical writing ability
Experience working with complex systems and models
Knowledge of Probabilistic Safety Analysis tools and techniques
Familiarity with complex industrial plant design
Experience in safety case development within the nuclear sector
Comfortable working in a regulated environment
Ability to build strong, trusted relationships with internal teams and safety regulators
Must meet criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) (British residency for last 3 years ordinarily required)
