About the role
- Work as part of the Legal - Metro West team within Sydney Metro, Legal & Audit Division
- Deliver high quality, timely and solutions-focused legal services and independent advice for Sydney Metro
- Support achievement of organisational outcomes, minimise legal risk, and deliver on commitments to customers and the people of NSW
- Provide advice in both the procurement and delivery phases of the Metro West projects
- Handle high-profile, complex and sensitive matters with high financial, reputational, or operational risks
- Report to a Director, Legal and act as a Legal Counsel within the team
- Draft, negotiate and communicate legal positions and work closely with clients and stakeholders
Requirements
- Hold a practising certificate in NSW
- Minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience
- Experience in at least one of: general commercial law; infrastructure projects; construction; property; or legislation administered by Sydney Metro
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, able to convey legal concepts clearly and succinctly
- Experience handling complex matters with multiple stakeholders
- Experienced drafter, negotiator, and communicator
- Ability to work closely with clients to drive practical and commercially focussed outcomes
- Resourceful and proactive; able to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Interest in mentoring and developing junior lawyers and graduates
