About the role
- Provide language interpretation from one language to another for individuals with language barriers to understand and communicate
- Handle telephone or video calls on demand and render meaning of conversations in consecutive mode of interpretation between speakers
- Process information quickly and concisely, recognize sensitive cultural differences, and remain professional and courteous
- Use appropriate industry terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices
- Interpret across various sectors including Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Finance, Utilities, Travel and Hospitality, 911 emergency services, Law Enforcement, Courts, and General Business
Requirements
- Excellent listening, retention and note taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy
- Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, and always remain neutral and objective
- Ability to quickly establish personal credibility
- Ability to follow client's instructions closely
- Ability to explain certain cultural concepts to avoid miscommunication with the permission or at request of the client
- B2 CEFR English Level; bilingual with other required languages (Cantonese)
- Able to work from home on a permanent basis
