About the role
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for Adult Medicine department; report to Chief Medical Officer.
- 1 day per week dedicated to clinical leadership and personnel oversight; 4 days providing clinical care to patients.
- Manage administrative responsibilities: integrate and coordinate clinical services, schedule and conduct staff meetings, orient and mentor new providers.
- Utilize department and individual-specific data and dashboards to guide operational and clinical excellence.
- Supervise, mentor, coach, and develop clinicians using qualitative and quantitative data.
- Develop educational programming and support as assigned.
- Participate in recruitment, hiring, corrective action, and terminations as needed.
- Responsible for peer review process and performance reviews for direct reports.
- Support timely completion of documentation and follow-up tasks by Physicians and NP/PA/CNMs.
- Assume clinical responsibility in conjunction with CMO and provide reporting in functional areas; facilitate monthly department meetings.
- Foster environment promoting TVHC’s Quality Initiatives and develop clinical pathways to reduce unwarranted practice variation.
- Perform health assessments, order/perform diagnostic tests, manage medications, diagnose common acute and chronic conditions, and provide follow-up care.
- Provide direct clinical medical services in accordance with medical standards and health center protocols.
- Provide leadership in formulation and revision of medical program/clinical services policies and protocols.
- Assist in design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs and supervise new technologies and programs.
- May assume responsibilities and authorities of Chief Medical Officer on an interim basis when absent.
- Collaborate with management team to develop strategies and policies and provide consultation within scope.
Requirements
- Must have license as an NP or PA, and board certification or eligibility within discipline required.
- Current, valid license to practice medicine in the State of California, including DEA license (if applicable) and CPR required.
- Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience required.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience supervising providers and other clinical staff preferred.
- Experience in underserved communities or in a community health center setting preferred.
- Proficiency in clinical practice within the specified medical specialty.
- For MDs or DOs, a willingness to collaborate with and provide supervision to NP/PA/CNM providers as required.
- Ability to travel to designated locations as required by supervisor.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, in collaborative settings, required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Understands and is committed to maintaining highest level of confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to staff and build the trust and respect of patients, staff, colleagues, and external contacts.
- Commitment to remaining up-to-date with evidence-based, best practices in internal medicine and community-based medicine
- Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Ability to utilize computer technology preferred, and willingness to develop and adapt to the evolving technological requirements of modern medical health center practices required.
- Demonstrates flexibility regarding job duties and assignments.
