About the role
- Drive, develop and oversee Operational Risk team providing oversight/advisory services to Capital Management (BAU and Stress-Testing) within Treasury
- Provide people management leadership: hire, set goals, develop staff, manage performance and compensation, handle disciplinary actions
- Oversee and lead a large/complex reporting function and align discipline/strategy to enterprise best practices
- Coach, mentor and guide practitioners, business partners and executives within area of expertise
- Act as strategic partner to leadership on portfolio and financial management; identify operational efficiencies and opportunities
- Facilitate strategic discussions and provide thought leadership to executive audiences; develop roadmaps and frameworks
- Set operational team direction, execute on common goals, and focus on 12+ month planning
- Lead responses to periodic exams/audits and regulatory bodies and take corrective actions as required
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide Risk frameworks, policies, standards and procedures in coordination with management
- Participate in/lead enterprise-wide or Risk-focused special projects and oversee implementation of new processes, technologies or operating models
- Manage overall budget, revenue and expenditures; execute annual business plan and monitor effectiveness of strategies
- Recruit, grow and develop a high-performing, diverse team and promote a culture of risk management and control
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or technical certificate and/or 10+ years relevant experience
- Relevant Capital Management experience (1st or 2nd line) and experience managing teams in a Bank or Financial Services organization
- Advanced knowledge of multiple risk management disciplines, strategies, governance, regulations, controls, operating environment, consulting principles, procedures and processes
- Knowledge of risk management environment, standards, regulations and mitigation
- Ability to contribute to strategic direction and provide trusted reporting, advice and opinion to senior leadership
- Ability to forecast initiatives and demand to develop annual strategic plan
- Skill in managing budgets, P&L, and resource allocation
- Skill in talent development and performance management
- Ability to establish goals and objectives that support the strategic plan
- Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement, and evaluate program/project activities
- Negotiation, problem-solving, and strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Skill in using computer applications including MS Office
- Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and handle confidential information with discretion
- Preferred: In depth knowledge of Capital Management (BAU and stress testing), applicable regulations, solid understanding of Treasury and Treasury processes, operational risk management
