About the role

  • Assist teams within US Risk Management in identifying, understanding, and monitoring risks in alignment with the Bank's strategy and Risk Appetite
  • Ensure teams remain compliant to framework, policy and standard requirements for enterprise-wide risk programs governed by Corporate Functions across TD
  • Primarily support Regulatory Compliance Management and Risk and Control Self-Assessments for US Enterprise Risk Management, US Operational Risk Management including Model Risk Management and the Office of the Chief Risk Officer
  • Read and interpret laws, rules, and regulations and map them to supported areas
  • Facilitate and lead risk assessments, and perform or challenge testing of controls
  • Lead development and/or implementation of specific standards, policies and/or processes to identify, report on and mitigate operational risk exposures
  • Proactively analyze potential risks and escalate key risks with findings and action plans to business executives
  • Establish and provide ongoing analysis and reporting on operational risk and other major risk categories; review findings and action plans with business leaders
  • Coordinate and guide activities relating to core operational risk disciplines/programs including Risk & Control Self-Assessment, Business Continuity Management, Outsourcing & Vendor Management, Regulatory Compliance
  • Support enterprise-wide operational risk escalation, review and approval processes, data management, policies and risk assessment processes
  • Direct development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators and facilitate communication and resolution of risk issues across business segments
  • Provide broad/deep commentary for development/maintenance/oversight of policies/procedures/practices
  • Participate in cross-functional/enterprise initiatives as a subject matter expert and conduct research projects
  • Monitor service, productivity and assess efficiency levels; implement continuous process/performance improvements
  • Lead, facilitate and implement remediation plans to address performance/risk/governance issues
  • Actively manage relationships across business lines, corporate and oversight functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and regulatory requirements
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
  • Mentor others, share knowledge, and contribute to team development and knowledge transfer

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate and/or 7+ years relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management governance, programs, policies, practices, operating frameworks & reporting
  • Knowledge of risk management environment, standards, regulations and mitigation
  • Ability to read and understand laws, rules, and regulations and how they connect to supported areas
  • Experience facilitating risk assessments and understanding connectivity between processes, risks, and controls
  • Experience performing or challenging testing of controls
  • Advanced skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques
  • Skill in using computer applications including MS Office; Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint (preferred)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form; strong storytelling through slides and verbal presentation (preferred)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
