About the role
- Work within the Piping Analysis team to perform analysis of nuclear safety related piping and piping supports to show code and regulatory compliance
- Service both New Plants Projects and the existing GEH BWR fleet
- Interface with Systems Design, Civil Structural Design, Reactor Design, and Integrated Plants Design teams
- Understand, define and analyze pipe supports to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Provide leadership and technical direction to personnel and projects and mentor less senior engineers
- Function as interface between sub-contractors and in-house engineering teams and perform oversight activities related to pipe support design, analysis, and documentation
- Prepare technical documents such as design basis reports and design requirements
- Support procurement and subcontract activities associated with new plant projects and perform owners’ acceptance of subcontracted design & analysis
- Represent GVH at industry forums such as ASME meetings and BWROG conferences
- Maintain and develop technical design procedures and procure, maintain, and facilitate the use of analysis software
- Communicate potential solutions and work status effectively to the organization and deliver outcomes to customers
Requirements
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (Other Engineering disciplines may be acceptable based on work experience)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in pipe supports design and analysis
- Working knowledge and experience with ASME Section III analysis to subsection NF and ASME B31.1
- Experience with pipe support analysis software such as GT STRUDL, STADD, ANSYS, LICAD
- Pipe Whip Restraint Design/Analysis experience
- Experience with development of Scopes of Work and performing oversight and owners’ acceptance of subcontracted pipe support design & analysis
- 3D modeling and large-scale BIM tool experience
- PE or EIT in training certificate
- Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, and process skills
- Strong data analyst capabilities and ability to create small automation scripts
- Ability to work effectively within a highly collaborative environment and mentor less senior engineers
- A self-starter willing to take initiative
- Willing to travel up to 25% domestic and international
- Must be U.S.-based / legally authorized to work in the United States (preferred US-based remote candidates)
- Role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information; final offers contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government
- Offer conditioned upon successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable)
