About the role
- Design conceptual layout plans using CAD and Revit, incorporating equipment placement, adjacencies and workflows
- Create conceptual commercial foodservice equipment designs that meet operational and budgetary requirements
- Perform site visits to survey existing conditions and gather project information
- Select and specify appropriate foodservice equipment and prepare preliminary equipment schedules and cut sheets
- Incorporate local and national codes and standards (health and safety, ADA, NSF, UL, ANSI)
- Work with clients and project teams to identify goals, present design concepts, and incorporate feedback
- Facilitate design meetings, site visits, and stakeholder reviews
- Manage design projects through all phases, monitoring timelines, deliverables, and budgets
- Track design-related expenses and maintain project documentation and Revit/CAD libraries
- Perform internal quality assurance reviews and conduct post-installation evaluations as needed
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and recommend innovative, sustainable solutions
- Transition approved concept designs to architects, fabricators, subcontractors, and regional project managers for final detailing
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field
- Certification or coursework in foodservice design (preferred)
- Expert in CAD, Revit and BIM
- Expert with AutoQuotes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and project management software
- Experienced in commercial kitchen workflows, foodservice equipment, and systems integration
- Proficient in relevant standards and guidelines (e.g., NSF, ADA, ASHRAE, IBC, NFPA)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to collaborate with teams and manage multiple priorities
- 3-5 years of experience in foodservice design, commercial kitchen planning, or related architecture/engineering roles (preferred)
- Ability to travel to client sites (up to 45%)
