About the role
- Interface with internal and external customers; identify customer needs and act as a trusted technical advisor.
- Contribute to qualifying assigned opportunities and actively contribute to pursuit strategy.
- Lead the team in the overall systems solution offered to Grid Automation customers and design comprehensive, scalable, interoperable solutions including integrated digital substations and centralized/distributed architectures.
- Design cyber-resilient, customer-compliant, and budget-optimized solutions incorporating hardware, software, and communication interfaces.
- Develop, standardize and maintain solution architecture designs and drawings; create unique solution differentiators aligned with market needs.
- Demonstrate value propositions through technical performance, total cost of ownership (TCO), and system-wide benefits.
- Initiate proof-of-concept (PoC), demos, workshops and pilot project initiatives to showcase solution feasibility and benefits.
- Lead deal structure development, maximize product pull-through and support cross-selling of the broader GE portfolio.
- Work closely with North America sales teams to develop winning proposals to meet or exceed regional orders plan; support market pricing indicators and pricing strategy.
- Support proposal process improvement, define project materials and obtain vendor quotations; identify technical risks and necessary product development needs.
- Lead or participate in customer workshops, solution co-creation sessions, deep-dive technical discussions, and customer negotiations as required.
- Follow all GEV Corporate and local policies and procedures and perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 10 years of experience in similar role or senior project engineering role OR knowledge level comparable to equivalent of 20 years of experience in engineering.
- Significant experience in Engineering/Technology & Systems (Solutions) Architecture and Design.
- Experience leading pre- and post-sales design, development, and implementation of Grid Automation solutions (Zonal Autonomous Control, Distribution Automation, Integrated Digital Process Bus Substations, EnergyAPM, Device Management, Cyber security, Top-Down Engineering Solutions).
- Experience presenting, demonstrating, and supporting proofs of concept, demos and workshops.
- Ability to interface with customers from field engineering level to company vice president as a trusted technical advisor.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Familiarity with Salesforce (SFDC) tools.
- Strong oral and written communication, presentation, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to influence and lead cross functional teams and develop complex systems proposals.
- Ability to assess quality of information and provide recommendations and novel solutions.
- Ability to travel in U.S. and Canada as required to support Sales, Business Development and Proposal teams.
