About the role
- Value Engineering, as part of the Product Team, is a practice focused on driving continuous cost-out and value optimization across GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) Advanced Nuclear product offerings, near-term focus on the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Product.
Independently locate, understand, investigate and challenge the technical details of assigned BWRX-300 systems
Generate cost optimization ideas, build business cases, and influence teams to execute plans to realize savings
Manage ideas through execution, present at approval forums and support execution teams
Conduct analytics and parametric modeling to assist management teams in setting cost targets and supporting negotiation and translation into business case/projects
Champion the VE process with functional organizations to drive resource allocation and pacing through the lifecycle of project ideas
Drive implementation of project plans until full value capture across core systems, including teardowns, ideation, and should-cost efforts
Support Systems Architecture team, including tradeoff analysis and leading discussions at engineering forums and customer meetings
Support internal customers and customer-specific project work and develop new processes and documents where none exist
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical (or related) engineering
Minimum 7 years of experience in the Commercial Nuclear Industry (Design engineering preferred)
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information; final offers contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government
Candidates must be willing to travel up to 25% domestic or international as needed
Ability to work with constructors and fabricators to optimize construction and fabrication methodologies
Cost Estimating / Construction experience
Nuclear or Gas Turbine equipment experience in the capacity of Engineering, Operations, Construction, Estimating and/or Procurement
Demonstrate leadership qualities combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills (written & verbal)
Ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with a high level of autonomy and accountability for results
Entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for ideas, urgency, and decisiveness; takes prompt action to accomplish goals
Proven experience in product lifecycle cost analysis e.g. material, manufacturing costs, assembly and logistics cost
Superior problem-solving abilities & analytical skills e.g. data analysis, experience formulating business cases
