About the role

  • The Sr Manager of Training for Sunnyside reports to the Vice President of Retail and is responsible for leading and developing the operational training strategy for new and existing Sunnyside retail locations within the state
  • The Sr Manager of Training will oversee 30+ Sunnyside dispensaries, ensuring cohesive processes and procedures to best achieve operational excellence and a consistent customer and employee experience across all Sunnyside stores
  • This role will work cross functionally with key partners including but not limited to Retail Ops Management, Human Resources, Compliance, Security, Marketing, New Store Development, Learning & Development and Talent Acquisition to ensure regional business needs are met
  • Build a high-performing regional training team through employee selection, onboarding, coaching and clear accountability for results
  • Assess team performance, skill gaps, and career aspirations for employee development
  • Develop, coach, and inspire employees to achieve individual goals through regular feedback including career development planning
  • Uphold a culture of accountability, people-centeredness and forward-thinking in the performance management of regional trainers
  • Respond to all questions, concerns or suggestions and communicate resource needs to the Retail Vice President; provide timelines for resolution
  • Develop and drive the direction of training resource planning and training needs aligning with the regional strategy
  • Partner closely with national training team to ensure national training alignment
  • Evaluate and deploy training resources in partnership with retail leadership to support new and existing retail stores operational training needs
  • Regularly assess store training support and efficiency for operational opportunities and workforce planning
  • Create, maintain, communicate and deliver training on SOPs, work instructions, job aids, and any other applicable training documents (including state-mandated requirements)
  • Lead change management efforts for launches of training programs/initiative including new SOPs, systems, product launches, etc.
  • Partner with store leadership to ensure execution of new hire 90-day onboarding plans and conduct on-site training when applicable
  • Ensure timely completion of required onboarding programs and maintain accurate training attendance logs
  • Oversight of all new store opening new hire orientation including logistics planning, facilitating, and coordinating with key stakeholders to ensure a first-in-class onboarding experience
  • Establish and nurture key business partner relationships across Retail Leadership, Human Resources/L&D, Compliance, New Store Development, Marketing, and IT
  • Achieve training/onboarding objectives by creating and monitoring performance of onboarding checklists, training store visit reports and tracking store visits
  • Gather data and insights from individual dispensaries to contribute to strategic plans for the region
  • Provide retail store leaders and regional leadership with feedback during store visits and escalate concerns as needed
  • Partner with Human Resources to investigate and resolve employee relations and employee engagement concerns in a timely manner

Requirements

  • 7-9 years of Retail Management and/or Operations Training Experience, preferably in a high-growth environment with multiple site responsibility
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, apply, and teach others about technical and product-related information in a professional consultative manner
  • Strong business acumen including data management, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in talent selection, performance management and succession planning of hourly and salary team members
  • The ability to influence and impact operational training in a dynamic hypergrowth organization
