About the role

  • Collaborate directly with behavioral healthcare clients to understand their billing processes and conduct discovery sessions to identify workflows, pain points, and desired outcomes.
  • Translate customer needs into system requirements and configuration plans; help customers understand and configure SmartCare billing modules.
  • Guide clients in designing billing workflows that align with SmartCare capabilities and recommend industry best practices.
  • Configure billing templates, automation rules, fee schedules, service codes, payer rules, and claims processing logic.
  • Develop training materials, conduct hands-on training sessions, and create quick reference sheets and FAQs.
  • Support testing and validation of billing workflows during implementation and troubleshoot configuration issues.
  • Provide on-site or remote go-live support, monitor billing operations, and assist with issue resolution.
  • Collect post-implementation feedback, recommend enhancements, and support ongoing training and system updates.
  • Coordinate with clinical analysts, business analysts, project managers, SmartCare support, and development teams for escalated issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in healthcare billing, preferably in behavioral health
  • Experience with EHR implementation projects, especially billing modules preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.
  • Proficiency in SmartCare EHR or similar behavioral health EHR platforms
  • Understanding of billing workflows, including charge entry, claims processing, and remittance
  • Familiarity with EDI transactions (e.g., 837, 835 files)
  • Ability to configure billing rules, fee schedules, and payer setups
  • Experience with data validation, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health billing practices
  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance billing requirements
  • Awareness of HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards
  • Strong attention to detail in system configuration and testing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience developing and delivering training materials
