Produce op-eds and thought leadership pieces that effectively convey the Stand Together community’s mission and vision and meet communications and messaging goals
Write for principals and partners on a wide variety of issues and topics, including federal policy advocacy, state legislation, music, sports, culture, philanthropy, and more
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including communications directors, policy fellows, grassroots organizers and activists, government affairs, thought leaders, and external partners to produce op-eds that meet significant moments and capture unique voices and stories
Deliver persuasive writing and revisions on tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy, clarity, and consistency
Capture unique voices and tones while maintaining style, editorial, and messaging standards
Continued learning in the op-ed field to understand what editors and outlets are looking for to increase op-ed placements
Adapt to evolving priorities with a self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset and a commitment to results and collaboration
Requirements
3-5 years of professional writing experience focused on ghost- and opinion writing
A background in grassroots advocacy, journalism, or political communications is preferred, but not required
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, specifically in opinion and persuasive writing, as well as the ability to capture different voices and tone while maintaining clear, concise prose
Proven ability to comprehend and simplify complex issues and translate them into opinion-style writing, such as the economy, health care, immigration, addiction recovery, education, criminal justice reform, and more
Strategic insight and entrepreneurial drive, with a deep understanding of how to translate goals and ideas into persuasive opinion content
A collaborative, cross-functional mindset, with experience navigating fast-paced, matrixed environments, managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, and setting standards for best practices
